“We’ll travel after we buy a house”
“We’ll be able to do more once we move.”
“We’ll start that once we get into shape.”
Do any of these excuses sound framiliar?
For far too long we allowed the same kind of excuses to stop us from going out and starting to pursue and do some of the things we really wanted to do. One day it hit me, why are we waiting for the perfect circumstances? There’s always going to be something more to do or reason why the timing isn’t just right.
It all came down to making a decision to just start doing what I really wanted to do. If you remember our life lesson #1 it is to “begin with the end in mind”.
Ultimately I wanted to be able to have experiences that would allow us to try new things, take in the beauty that both natural and man made creations would provide. I wanted to try new foods and take advantage of opportunities to expand our perspectives and to make memories that were worth sharing. And to inspire others to do the same.
At first I thought that meant travel, but we had responsibilities and a limited budget, so I looked for other opportunities to have those same type of experiences within our budget and schedule. The moment we made that decisions, it was like a whole new world of experiences started showing up around us, and we could have most of them close to home.
Each experience has led us to discover even more. One could even say that the opportunites for adenture and learning are infinite. We just had to stop waiting for the oppotunities to create these memories to happen and go out and create the ourselves.
